Commissioner of Police Owen Ellington has ordered the immediate arrest of policemen involved in shooting incident in Buckfield Ocho Rios St Ann Thursday.
The commissioners’ action follows the examination of a citizen’s video of the incident.
The footage showed the policemen beating and then shooting to death a man lying on the ground appearing to be unarmed and subdued.
The police statement came within minutes of the airing of a video showing a policeman shooting in cold blood a man on the ground, in Buckfield, Ocho Rios St Ann.
The man who was shot dead is Ian Lloyd also known as chen sing, a murder suspect.
He is believed to have stabbed and killed his common law wife Loveita Wilson, also known as cherry, of
In a video taken by an unnamed citizens, Lloyd was seen on the ground and was being repeatedly hit with a baton by a policeman.
Another policeman circled him and then fired a shot into the man’s body.
Dozens of people were on the scene at the time but there was no protest.
In the statement commissioner Ellington instructed also instructed that stop orders be placed at all ports of entry, on the policemen involved.
Commissioner Ellington is applauding the bravery of the citizen who brought this incident to notice and is encouraging others who witness any act of police misconduct to do likewise.
He says this provides the best opportunity for the police to rid the force of those members who would want to act outside of the law.
