All three policemen who were ordered arrested last evening by Police Commissioner Owen Ellington following the shooting death of a man in Buckfield,
A release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says personnel from the Bureau of Special Investigations, which is responsible for probing controversial police shootings, have interviewed one of the arrested policemen.
The other two policemen will be interviewed during the course of this weekend.
The police are asking members of the public who witnessed the incident in Buckfield to provide any information they can.
Persons with information can call Crime Stop at 311, Operation Kingfish at 811 and Police Control at 119.
In the meantime, IRIE FM News understands that other cops who were on the scene, but who were not involved in the incident, will also be questioned.
Commissioner Ellington last evening ordered the immediate arrest of cops.
The Commissioner’s action follows the examination of a citizen’s video of the incident.
The footage showed the policemen beating and then shooting to death a man who was lying on the ground and who appeared to be unarmed and subdued.
The man who was shot dead is Ian Lloyd also known as “Chen Sing”, a murder suspect.
He is believed to have earlier stabbed and killed his common-law wife Loveita Wilson, also known as Cherry, of Seville Heights In St. Ann.
In a video taken by an unnamed citizen, Lloyd was seen on the ground and was being repeatedly hit with a baton by a policeman.
Another policeman circled him and then fired a shot into the man’s body.
Dozens of people were on the scene at the time but there was no protest.
