Police detained 24 persons and seized an illegal firearm during a massive police military operation in Duanvale, Trelawny today (August 4).
The persons detained have been processed and released.
The security forces reportedly invaded the Duanvale community bout 2 o’clock this morning in search of a wanted man.
Police say they were searching for a man who goes by the names Lance Walker and Lance Robertson.
He is wanted for murder and several incidents of shootings in the parish.
Police say he managed to elude them during this morning’s search.
Acting Head of the Trelawny Police, Deputy Superintendent Alonzo Medley, says Lance Walker is a member of a gang, which has established a stronghold in the Duanvale community.
Superintendent Medley says the police are working to dismantle the gang.
The police further state that the gang is responsible for the vast majority of the murders recorded in the parish over recent years.
