Police High Command Defends Jamaica Defense Force
Sep 1

The Police High command has come out in defense of the Jamaica Defense Force about what it calls recent comments in the media imputing that the JDF is not cooperating with police investigations into fatal shootings.

According to the police high command, the JDF has been giving its full cooperation and support in all ongoing investigations including the recent joint operations in Western Kingston and Kirkland Heights.

There were allegations about the conduct of soldiers in Tivoli Gardens in May during the State Of Emergency and also in Kirkland Heights where Keith Clarke, was shot to death in his house, during a police military operation.

The Police High Command says the operations in Western Kingston and Kirkland Heights as well as all other operations came out of a joint police/military initiative based on security strategies developed with the full collaboration and input of each force.

A release issued this afternoon states that several meetings involving the leadership of the security forces have been held since the investigations began.

Out of these meetings protocols were established to strengthen what the police call the timeliness and efficiency of the investigative process.
