Triple world record holder Usain Bolt has been given the green light to compete in the 150m street race at the Bupa Great City Games in Manchester on Sunday.
The Olympic champion returned to training last week after having stitches removed from his left foot following his motor vehicle accident recently
He had minor surgery to remove thorns which pierced his foot when he exited the wreckage of his BMW M3 after it skidded off Highway 2000.
Bolt who is expected to run in spikes for the first time this evening since returning to training, will leave the island later this week for the highly anticipated event.
The 22 year old is the main draw in a 150m race on the streets of Manchester in the made for TV event which will see him lining up against his compatriots Xavier Brown, and Mario Forsyth, the in form British sprinter Marlon Devonish, Simeon Williamson and Andy Turner, while World and Olympic 400m champion Christine Ohuruogu headlines the womens’ field.
Bolt who is a keen Manchester United fan is looking forward to meeting the team and being introduced to the Old Trafford crowd at the home game against Arsenal on Saturday.
He will also attend the Manchester United players awards on Sunday night where he will present Fans Player of the Year Award.
After event on Sunday, Bolt is expected to be in action on June 11 at the inaugural festival of excellence at the University of Toronto’s Varsity Centre.
