A number of shock results highlighted the action on the opening day in the JFF Sherwin Williams sponsored women’s National Premier League

In Zone A, defending champions Barbican began their campaign in a less than ideal manner going down 1-nil at home to newcomers Los Perfectos.

National under 20 player Simone Honeygan was on target for the Manchester based Los Perfectos.

The other match in the zone saw Trelawny Women securing a similar 1-0 win on the road against Harbour View.

Over in Zone B, national striker Venecia ‘String Bean’ Reid scored the first hat-trick of the season for Portmore Strikers who eased to a 3-1 win over Santos, while Waterhouse also got off to a victorious start cruising to a 4-1 win over Constant Cpring.

Shantell Bailey, Khedine Salmon, Juneille Watkins, Shanell Spence were all on target for Waterhouse, while Monique Brown replied for Constant Spring.
