1998 Reggae Boys captain Warren Barrett has been slapped with 5 year ban by the St. James Football Association.
Barrett who is the player coach of Masters League outfit Violet Tourers has also been hit with a $25.000 fine along with Phillip Wong following an incident at the Western Masters League semifinals between Violet Tourers and Hanover Masters where it was alleged that both Barrett and Wong assaulted a referee.
1 to 3 years of Barrett’s five year ban will be mandatory while four to five is set to be a probation period. Barrett who is also the national goalkeeper coach was earlier suspended from his post by the JFF pending the outcome of the disciplinary hearing.
The fracas also forced the abandonment of a game between the national senior football team and a St. James XI which was to follow the Masters League match which also ended prematurely.
