Reggae Boy Khari Stephenson sign for San Jose in MLS
Aug 12

Jamaican international Khari Stephenson will rub shoulders with the likes of David Beckham and Thierry Henry in the MLS this season.

This as the central midfielder is now with US Major League Soccer team the San José Earthquakes on loan from the Norwegian Premier League side Aalesund FK, where he is on contract until December, 2011.

Stephenson, who is now awaiting work permit clearance, is expected to start in the earthquakes next fixture this weekend.  He is returning to the MLS after a period of five years, having played professionally in Europe after leaving the Kansas City wizards in 2005.

Stephenson told IRIE FM Sports that playing in the MLS will allow him to play the style of football he is more comfortable with.

Stephenson while unable to say if the move should improve his chance of getting more regular calls in the national side says it certainly won’t hurt his chances.

Stephenson will join fellow Reggae Boy Ryan Johnson and Trinidadians Scott Sealy and Cornell Glenn at the San Jose Earthquakes, which plays in the Western Conference of the MLS.
