The IRIE FM Awards were conceptualized by one of our veteran Disc Jocks, Ainsworth Higgins, popularly known as "Big A". Currently, there is no recognition to commend work in the entertainment industry in Jamaica, and he thought the time is appropriate. The inaugural IRIE FM Awards were broadcasted on February 14, 2007, to give deserved recognition to those who have worked hard and achieved success, throughout the past year, while enhancing Jamaica’s reputable and world-renowned music industry.
