16 year old girl among 5 held for murder of security guards
Police are reporting that a 16 year-old girl is among five persons in custody, in connection with the killing of 3 security guards, in Westmoreland last week.
Police say the teen and a former employee of Guardsman Limited, who was recently fired from the company are among the 3 arrested during operations in Savanna-La-Mar, Westmoreland this morning (July 4).
The other two were picked up on Friday, following the discovery of the bodies.
Irie FM News understands that one of the two was questioned today (July 4) in the presence of his attorney.
Police say during this morning’s operation, a Taurus .38 revolver, a Smith and Wesson revolver, and fifteen .38 cartridges, which investigators believe were stolen from the establishment on the night of the incident, were recovered.
It's reported that several mobile phones, a motor vehicle key and a homemade handgun, were also seized.
33-year-old Nryan Morris, of Station Road in Little London, 40-year-old Sylvia Beckford of Whitehouse, both in Westmoreland and 31-year-old Judith McCauley, of Cardwell District in Green Island, Hanover, were found dead at their workplace on Nompriel Road in Westmoreland Friday, June 29.
The attackers stole a guardsman Toyota Hiace van, as well as two firearms belonging to the security officers.
The burnt-out van was discovered in Farm Pen, Savanna-La-Mar.
Police have said, they believed the male security guard, Morris, had just ended his shift, and was on his way home, when he was accosted by his attackers, and brought back to the office.
They then used Morris to force the female guards, to let them into the Negril office.
