6 men held in relation to August Town double murder

Six of the 9 men implicated in the double murder in August Town, St. Andrew on the weekend, are now in police custody.

Those who have surrendered to the cops are: Jehus Ferguson, Michael Stephens, Nicholas Nesbeth, Omar Walker, Romaine Simmonds and Marvin Dubidad.

Police say the men turned themselves in today (June 25) and are being processed.

Three other men are still being sought. They are Dwayne Markland, Rohan Myles and Julando Stephens.

The men were named either as wanted, or as persons of interest, in relation to the deaths of Moses Francis and Rohan Simpson, on Saturday.

Police say Francis and Simpson were shot during a gun battle between rival gangs.

Meanwhile, the Peace Management Initiative (PMI) is to visit August Town tomorrow, following a flare up of violence, which has left at least two persons dead and two others wounded.

Chairman of the mediation group and Political Ombudsman, Bishop Herro Blair, will lead a walk-through of the St. Andrew based community, to bring hope to residents and family members, affected by the violence.

Gang violence erupted in the community on the weekend, leaving Moses Francis and Rohan Simpson dead.

Police are maintaining a heavy presence in the area, and a 48 hour curfew will be imposed at 7 o’clock this evening.

Executive member at the PMI Horace Levy says the walk-through is slated for 10 o' clock, tomorrow morning.
