Councillor & Son Charged
Deputy Mayor of Montego Bay Michael Troupe and his son Jevaughn are to appear in court next Wednesday on gun related charges.
The 56-year-old Councillor for the Granville Division in the St James Parish Council and his son have been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
The two were held with three other persons, including Councillor for the Salt Spring Division, Sylvan Reid, and another of Councillor Troupe's son during a pre-dawn operation by the Lottery Scam Taskforce on Wednesday.
It is not clear, if Councillor Reid and the other two suspects have acquired legal representation, to pave the way for their interrogation.
Allegations are that police found a large sum of money, several high-end motor vehicles and a firearm during the operation.
