Finance Ministry and JTA meet to discuss wages
The Ministry of Finance is to provide the official documentation of its offer to teachers, following a meeting with the Jamaica Teachers' Association (JTA) today (August 16).
The Executive of the JTA met with Minister with Responsibility for the public service Horace Dalley, at the Ministry's offices today, to discuss wages and benefits, among other issues.
Secretary General of the JTA, Dr. Adolph Cameron says the parties discussed items in the 2010 to 2012 contract claim for the island's more than 20,000 public sector teachers.
He says the written confirmation of the Ministry's offer will be brought to JTA delegates during its Annual Conference from next Monday, August 20 to Wednesday, August 22.
The Association says, negotiations for the 2012/2014 contract period have not yet begun.
