Business pioneer Captain Horace Burrell, in paying tribute to the late Karl Young described him as an extraordinary human being
Captain Burrell delivered the first Annual Karl Young Lecture, during today's (June 10) celebration of the life and works of Karl Young.
Karl Young, the founder of Irie FM and Zip 103 FM is considered an icon amongst business entrepreneurs.
Captain Burrell said Mr. Young depicted the true meaning of an entrepreneur.
Meanwhile, several patrons attending today’s memorial expo on the life and works of Mr. Young, say the event was an eye opener.
Some patrons who spoke with Irie FM News says today’s event also served to highlight the influence Mr. Young had on various sectors of society.
The patrons enjoyed the various display booths featuring different businesses Mr. Young operated over the course of his life, from a bakery, to sound system, to dance parties, to media and entertainment.
The booths bear the names of some of the endeavours undertaken by Mr. Young, including Boonoonoonoos, White River Reggae Bash, Pineapple Penthouse, Strand Bakery, Grove Recording Studios and Basement Nightclub.
Persons from all walks of life converged in the Irie FM’s courtyard at broadcast house in Ocho Rios St. Ann, to celebrate the life, times and work of Mr. Young.
