Man being sought for woman's murder in St Elizabeth
A St Elizabeth man is being sought in connection with the brutal slaying of his common-law wife at their home in Malvern in the parish early this morning.
He is 57-year-old Howard Williams otherwise called 'Damper Rue' or 'Shemelin,' a farmer of Potsdam District in St. Elizabeth and Flint River in St Mary.
Williams is being sought in relation to the murder of his 47-year-old common-law wife Sonia Martin.
She was found with her throat slashed.
Reports from the Malvern Police are that about 12:15 a.m., Martin was asleep beside her two children when one of the children was awakened by strange sounds.
It's alleged that the child saw a man, believed to be martin’s common-law husband, standing over his mother with a machete.
The man fled and the child summoned the police.
On arrival of the lawmen, Martin was found in a pool of blood.
In the meantime, police say the children who have been traumatised by the incident were taken to hospital for treatment and will be given counselling.
Anyone knowing the whereabouts of Howard Williams is being asked to contact the Malvern Police at 966-5145, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
