Men who robbed Bamboo taxi operator now in custody
The three men who allegedly held up and robbed a taxi operator in Bamboo, St. Ann last night (July 27) are now in custody.
One of the alleged robbers was held by taxi operators, who responded to appeals for help from their colleague. He was handed over to police yesterday.
Head of the St. Ann police, SSP Carlton Wilson, says the two alleged robbers who had escaped, were picked up during a police operation this morning.
SSP Wilson says all three are being questioned.
Reports are that shortly after 9 o’clock last night, three men boarded a taxi from Brown's Town to Bamboo and held up the taxi driver with a homemade gun and knife.
The alleged robbers let the taxi driver out, then sped off with the stolen car.
Other taxi operators in bamboo were alerted to the incident and went in search of the car.
It is reported that a high speed chase ensued, with the thieves in the taxi they had stolen and other taxi operators in hot pursuit.
The stolen taxi reportedly overturned and one of the three thieves was captured. The other 2 were picked up this morning.
