Metcalfe juvenile returned
The teen who escaped from the Metcalfe Juvenile Remand Centre more than a week ago is again in the custody of the state.
Commissioner of Corrections, Lieutenant Colonel Sean Prendergast told Irie FM News that the juvenile was recaptured by the police with the assistance of his family on Saturday.
He was handed over to the Department of Correctional Services yesterday (July 9) and is back at Metcalfe.
Lieutenant Colonel Prendergast says investigations into how the teen escaped are still being carried out by an independent inspectorate from the Ministry of National Security.
On Friday, June 29, the 15-year-old juvenile was discovered missing during a head count.
He was in custody for being found in possession of a dangerous weapon.
Following his escape the Office of the Children's Advocate (OCA) announced that it would conduct its own independent probe into the matter.
