Small hoteliers raise concerns over new budget

President of the Jamaica Association of Villas and Apartments, Vanna Taylor, says small hoteliers have many concerns arising from the finance minister's budget presentation.

The minister announced some new tax measures yesterday which will directly affect the tourist trade, among them, a room tax and higher rate on alcoholic beverages.

However, Ms Taylor says other measures will affect the bottom line.

She says members will be examining the minister’s presentation with the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association and the groups decide how to proceed.
