Tropical storm Ernesto formed in the Western Atlantic this afternoon, and is forecast to grow into a hurricane by Monday.
At 4:00 p.m., the fifth named storm of the 2012 season was located 475 kilometers east of the Windward Islands.
Duty forecaster at the met office Ronald Moody says given the current projections of Ernesto, the island should expect outbreaks of showers starting late on Sunday into Monday.
A tropical storm warning was posted for several of the islands of the Lesser Antilles, including Barbados, St. Vincent, Dominica, St. Lucia, and Martinique.
