Woman constable shot and wounded

A police woman was shot and wounded at the Malvern Police Station, St Elizabeth a short while ago by a man who reportedly entered the station and disarmed her.

The unidentified man said to be of unsound mind was chased and shot dead by police about half mile from the station at Malvern.

The incident reportedly took place minutes after four o'clock this afternoon.

The man who shot the police woman with her own gun, reportedly often visited the station.

An Irie FM correspondent on the scene said police from neighbouring stations and other units are still at the Malvern Station where a large crowd has gathered.

Up to a short while ago the body of the man who is alleged to be the shooter was lying in the road near Bethlehem Teachers College.

The condition of the police woman is not known.
