Why did IRIE FM’s radio deejay Sunshine change her stage name to Katrina?

The radio deejay born Katrina Irons has doubled up as an artist in recent times. During the Wake Up Call this morning with Ron Muschette, Sunshine explains that the name change to Katrina was necessary as the world of a disc jockey and an artist are very different.

Katrina is currently promoting her brand new single Why Worry produced by So Unique Records.

Beenie Man To Make Appearance On VH1's Love & Hip Hop

Beenie Man is leaving the island on Tuesday to Atlanta to add the final touches to a collab with hip hop artiste and actress Karlie Redd who is well-known for her role on the VH1 series, ‘Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta.

Beenie Man gives us the 411 on the new track titled ‘Got the Draws’ and also talks about making an appearance on the VH1 series.

Karlie Redd is in production for season two of the popular ‘Love and Hip Hop Atlanta’ series.

Toots Hibbert Injured After Bottling Incident In U.S.A

Veteran reggae singer Toots Hibbert was forced to cut his performance short after been slapped with a vodka bottle.

On Saturday, the legendary Toots and the Maytals were performing at a concert in Richmond, Virginia when a patron pelted a vodka bottle on stage hitting Toots in the head.

A video of the incident shows 67 year old Toots being struck hard on the head, dropping his mike and staggering off the stage.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested and charged with aggravated assault and public intoxication, according to Richmond police.

Gaza Slim Fed Up With Court Delays

Gaza Slim and Pim-Pim along with embattled Gaza boss Vybz Kartel are to return to court in July.

The three are jointly charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice and perverting the course of justice.

When the matter was called before the Corporate Area R-M court today, the case was put-off.

Deejay Plans To Sue Landlady

Unicorn is threatening to sue the landlady accused of badly beating him.

The decision to sue follows Unicorn’s court appearance on Friday where the landlady was remanded in custody. The deejay gives Music News the 411.

The dancehall deejay and his landlady had an altercation on April 29 because Unicorn apparently owed $2000JA for an electricity bill.

The deejay who suffered several blows to the head has since vacated the premises.

Ninja Man Murder Trial Put-off

The court has lifted Ninja Man’s curfew order, giving the deejay the green light to perform.

However, the veteran dancehall deejay’s murder trial was put-off until on October 7 because the court was dealing with another case.
Ninja Man tells Music News that thou the curfew has been lifted he still has to report to the police station.

The station officially went on air on August 1, 1990. Reggae in the morning, Reggae in the evening, Reggae in the night was the cry. Critics said it was impossible to sustain a 24-hour Reggae music station. In fact, so strong was the impact, it proved that this format was something the Jamaican public yearned for. The 'little station that could' got all media houses in Jamaica to stand up and take note.
