Members of the entertainment fraternity are reacting to the Broadcasting Commission’s recently sent directives to several radio, TV and cable operators to pull all daggering songs/videos from their playlist along with songs that have beeps or bleeps.

Entertainer Queen Ifrika is endorsing the move made by the Broadcasting Commission. She says the decision taken is beneficial and hopes the Commission puts more things in place.

Meanwhile, Renegade of the group RXD who was currently enjoying airplay on radio and television for their daggerin song  Bend Over says they feel this is a direct attack on dancehall music.

In the statement sent, the Commission says:

1.    There shall not be transmitted through radio or television, any recording, live songs or music video which promotes the act of daggering or which makes reference to, or is otherwise suggestive of daggering.

2.  There shall not be transmitted through radio or television or cable services, any audio recording, song or music video which employs editing techniques of bleeping or beeping of its original content.

About IRIE FM

The station officially went on air on August 1, 1990. Reggae in the morning, Reggae in the evening, Reggae in the night was the cry. Critics said it was impossible to sustain a 24-hour Reggae music station. In fact, so strong was the impact, it proved that this format was something the Jamaican public yearned for. The 'little station that could' got all media houses in Jamaica to stand up and take note.
