JAMAICAN POETRY CD LAUNCHED

Since Joan Andrea Hutchinson published her book of Jamaican love poems Inna Mi Heart in 2007, there have been calls for  the CD. Finally, Inna Mi Heart, the CD is here.

The CD, like the book, provides its own light entertainment, but more importantly, serves as a vehicle for those who want to express themselves on issues of love, but just don’t know how. Hutchinson is quick to acknowledge that most people struggle with the articulation of emotional issues, and so the CD makes it easier for them as ‘they never have to see the person face to face.”

The 59 tracks cover a wide cross section of issues relating to love and as Hutchinson says “there is a poem for every reason and every season.”  She said that while the CD can be used in association with Valentine’s Day, there are poems which speak to generalities in relationships … the sweet and the not so sweet.

If you are looking for a poem to tell someone that you like them but you are shy, if you want to celebrate your love, if you want to say it is over – Inna Mi heart has a poem for you.  If you need to comfort a friend who is grieving or hurting, and if you want to tell someone to get on with his or her life without you - there are poems which speak specifically to those issues.

The tracks on the CD are sweetened by music from Fab Five’s Sidney Thorpe.  According to Hutchinson, Sidney got it just right, and the music enhances the poems.

So while you might have splurges for Valentine ’s Day, remember that there is love after, and emotions, the good, bad and ugly still need to be communicated.   The CD Inna Mi Heart… is the vehicle and is now available in stores.

About IRIE FM

The station officially went on air on August 1, 1990. Reggae in the morning, Reggae in the evening, Reggae in the night was the cry. Critics said it was impossible to sustain a 24-hour Reggae music station. In fact, so strong was the impact, it proved that this format was something the Jamaican public yearned for. The 'little station that could' got all media houses in Jamaica to stand up and take note.
