A Vybz Kartel, Mavado collaboration and a peace concert are some of the things highlighted in by information minister Daryl Vaz to quell the Gully/Gaza controversy.

Mr. Vaz was speaking at a private meeting held at Jamaica House this morning with the two deejays along with Minister of Education, Andrew Holness, Security Minister Dwight Nelson, Representatives of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports, Head of the Peace Management Initiative, Hero Blaire,   The National Transformation Programme and Reverend Al Miller.

Minister Vaz says five major activities will be undertaken.

They include a joint treat before the Christmas, a peace concert, the painting out of graffiti in schools and a joint song to appeal peace among supporters of the artists. The specific dates and locations for the activities are yet to be decided.

Mavado and Vybz Kartel laud the government for their initiative and agreed to the peace proposal. The two dancehall deejays have also made it clear that they are no enemies and it’s just about the music.  (CLIP)

Vybz Kartel and Mavado first declared peace when they shocked fans by performing together at West Kingston Jamboree in Tivoli Gardens on Sunday.

About IRIE FM

The station officially went on air on August 1, 1990. Reggae in the morning, Reggae in the evening, Reggae in the night was the cry. Critics said it was impossible to sustain a 24-hour Reggae music station. In fact, so strong was the impact, it proved that this format was something the Jamaican public yearned for. The 'little station that could' got all media houses in Jamaica to stand up and take note.
