MAVADO GETS SEPTEMBER COURT DATE FOR ASSAULT CHARGES
Mavado’s charges of assault and malicious destruction of property is set for mention in late September.
When the dancehall singjay appeared in the Montego Bay R-M court this morning, he was ordered finger printed. His bail was extended and he was ordered to return to court on September 29 where the matter is set for mention.
Mavado's attorney filed an application requesting that the matter be referred to mediation instead of trial but the judge postponed her judgment on the application until a full medical report was available.
Mavado was charged following an incident near Anchovy, St James last month. Reports are that at about 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2011 Mavado assaulted a man and damaged his Toyota Camry motor vehicle along the Belmont main road in St. James.
The complainant allegedly stopped along the main road to allow a line of traffic to pass when he and his son were attacked by Vado and members of his entourage.
The man was allegedly beaten all over his body with a machete and his son reportedly hit in the face with a machete causing him to lose several teeth.
