A firestorm seems to be brewing between the organizers of Reggae Sumfest and R&B singer R Kelly.

Music News understands that two hundred and seventy five thousand US dollars was supposedly paid to R Kelly who was expected to perform at Reggae Sumfest last year. However, it is alleged that the money was sent to the singer’s account without a contract.

Industry insiders are suggesting that heads may roll as Reggae Sumfest heavyweights make an attempt to regain the funds.

But why was the money sent to R Kelly’s account without a contract? What is the likelihood of the money being returned to Reggae Sumfest?

Numerous efforts by Music News to get a comment from the organizers of Reggae Sumfest proved futile.

R Kelly, who was a headliner for International Night 1 at Reggae Sumfest last year, was a no-show after an abscess was discovered on one of the singer’s tonsils forcing him to undergo emergency surgery.

Music News understands that the matter is scheduled to be discussed further at Sumfest's annual general meeting later this week as the organizers make plans for the selection of new executives and the 2012 staging of Reggae Sumfest.

Keep it locked to Music News as the saga unfolds.

About IRIE FM

The station officially went on air on August 1, 1990. Reggae in the morning, Reggae in the evening, Reggae in the night was the cry. Critics said it was impossible to sustain a 24-hour Reggae music station. In fact, so strong was the impact, it proved that this format was something the Jamaican public yearned for. The 'little station that could' got all media houses in Jamaica to stand up and take note.
