UNREST IN TIVOLI FORCE PROMOTERS TO POSTPONE EVENTS
The unrest in Tivoli Gardens that has engaged police and soldiers in a shootout since Sunday with criminals has forced several show promoters to postpone or cancel their events.
The Mountain Dew Stunt Festival slated for to take place on Labour Day at the Police Officer’s club, on Hope Road in Kingston has been postponed. No new date has been set.
Meanwhile Movie fans in the corporate area will not be able to see their favourite flicks at the Carib in Cross Roads and Palace Cineplex in the Sovereign Centre, Liguanea, as the cinemas remain closed today (Tuesday, May 25).
Palace Amusement Company, Operator of the cinemas, is continually assessing the current unrest in the capital and will issue further advisories.
However, Palace Multiplex in Montego Bay and Odeon Cineplex in Mandeville are open for business and will have regular matinee and late shows.
Meanwhile, the highly anticipated Western Consciousness has been cancelled. Promoter Worrell King claims the inclement weather was the main contributory factor for the postponement. Western Consciousness was slated to take place at Paradise Park in Sav-La-Mar on the weekend.
