Mystery spinner Sunil Narine, despite the failure of the West Indies to advance beyond the group stages of the Champions Trophy tournament, is still holding on to his status as the top one day bowler in world cricket.

This according to the latest release of the ICC Player Rankings for One Day International bowlers.

Defending world 200m champion Veronica Campbell-Brown has wholeheartedly apologised to the track and field world after her testing positive for a banned substance at the Jamaica International Invitational Meet last month at the National Stadium.

The 31 year old through her agent Claude Bryan in an email response earlier this afternoon apologised to her family, Jamaica, her sponsors, the governing body, the world athletics family, her supporters as well as those she worked with in various non-athletic causes.

Borrego celebrates Minor Premiership title with Adelaide Thunderbirds

Jamaican Carla Borrego and her Adelaide Thunderbirds teammates are still celebrating their feat of winning the Minor Premiership, the award that’s given to the team with the best regular season record in the ANZ Netball Championship.

With just one round left in the regular season, the Thunderbirds sit at the top of the table with 22 points after posting 11 wins and one loss from 12 games, 4 points more than their nearest rivals, Queensland Firebirds, the team of another Jamaican Romelda Aiken.

Calabar high's Michael O’Hara and Wolmer’s girls Jonielle Smith captured sprint doubles while there were a number of world youth leading times as the two day National Junior Athletics Championships came to an end at the National Stadium on Sunday.

O’Hara who took the 100 meters on Saturday in a personal best and world youth leading 10.39 seconds also ran the fastest 200m of 2013: when he dismantled the field to win the boys u-18 in an impressive 20.75 to finished well ahead of Donald Quarry High's Odane Bernard 21.66.

IAAF to issue statement on positive test by Veronica Campbell-Brown

Track  and  field's  world  governing body the IAAF is  expected to  make  an  official  statement  on Tuesday on  the  positive drug test  on Jamaican sprint star Veronica Campbell-Brown.

The IAAF informed the athlete of the adverse analytical finding through the JAAA following which she had her B sample tested last week in Montreal Canada.

The world governing body is now expected to put out an official statement on the findings tomorrow.

Jamaican sprinter Blake banned 6 years for positive drug test

Jamaican quarter-miler Dominique Blake has been banned for six years with immediate effect for testing positive for the banned substance, methylhexanamine, at last year's National Trials.

Blake, who admitted the doping charges and explained she didn't intend to use the substance, finished sixth in the women's 400m final at the national trials and travelled with the team to the London Olympics did not make the final 4x4 meter relay team.

Whitmore resigns following Jamaican loss to Honduras

Jamaica’s quest to secure spot at the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil will have to be completed with a new man at the helm.

This as Theodore ‘Tappa’ whitmore’ has resigned his position as head coach of the national men’s senior team.

Whitmore was first brought on as interim manager after the firing of former manager Bora Milutinović in November 2007.

Reggae Boyz' World cup dreams in tatters following loss to Honduras

Jamaica’s hopes of advancing to the 2014 FIFA World Cup finals in Brazil have suffered another massive blow.

This as the team went down to a 2-0 defeat on the road to Honduras last night in Tegucigalpa.

The Reggae Boyz, who played the final 15 minutes of the game with 10 men, after defender Adrian Mariappa was dismissal for a dangerous challenge, struggled to create chances against a well-organised Honduras team.

Windies outplayed in 8 wicket loss to India

West Indies were outplayed by India on Tuesday and lost their second Group B ICC Champions Trophy match by 8 wickets at the Oval. Johnson Charles scored a purposeful 60 at the top of the order while former skipper Darren Sammy blasted four sixes in a stunning 56 not out, but 233-9 proved inadequate.

Windies wicketkeeper Ramdin banned 2 matches by ICC

The West Indies will be without vice-captain and first choice wicket-keeper Dinesh Ramdin for the remaining two games in the group stage of the ICC Champions Trophy which is being staged in England.

This as he has been slapped with a two match ODI ban by the ICC for "conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game".

Ramdin was also fined 100 percent of his match fee after claiming a catch off Pakistan’s Misbah-ul-Haq in the West Indies' two-wicket win in the Group B match at The Oval on Friday.
