Double champs: Jamaica adds WICB T20 title to Regional Super50 Crown
Jamaica’s women’s cricketers have underlined their status as the best team in the region.
This after beating Trinidad and Tobago by 16 runs in today’s rain affected final of the inaugural regional WICB Womens T20 Competition at Sabina Park to add to the Regional Super50 crown they won in Barbados.
The Jamaicans electing to bat made 101 for 5 from their 20 overs.
Skipper Stafanie Taylor led the way with a captain’s knock of 57 while Jodi-Ann Morgan supported with 22 against Stacy Ann King who led the t&t bowling with 2 for 12.
Trinidad in reply was dismissed for 85 in 18.2 overs.
This after rain had stopped play with the Trinis on 21 for 1 in the 3rd over.
Taylor returned to take 4 wickets, while Shanel Daley supported the skipper by taking 3.
Today’s result saw the Jamaicans take revenge for the narrow 1-run defeat at the hands of the Trinidadians in the 4th round and also saw them repeat the result of last year’s Regional Super50 final in Barbados.
Barbados claimed third place after carving out a 7 wickets win over Guyana in the first game of the Sabina park double header.
Final score Guyana 88 for 7, Barbados 89 for 3.
