Powerful Jamaica cruise to 2nd consecutive win at Centro Basket Tournament
Jamaica’s national men’s basketball team thanks to strong offensive performances from Akeem Scott and Samardo Samuels powered to a comfortable 80-64 victory over the U.S Virgin Islands to record win number two in as many games at the 2012 Centro Basket Tournament in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Scott led the way with a game high 23 points to go along with 6 rebounds and 2 assists, while Samuels supported with 20 points and 9 rebounds.
Weyinmi Rose who top-scored in Monday’s 91-61 win over Costa Rica added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
The Jamaicans following the result lead Group B with maximum 4 points from two games.
The returns to action on Wednesday against the Dominican Republic before facing Mexico on Thursday.
The top four teams at the Centro Basket Tournament will earn spots at next year’s FIBA Americas Championships.
