Windies beat Aussies to level ODI series
The West Indies cricketers are today celebrating their first win over Australia in the 50-over format of the game since 2006.
The Windies achieved the feat after running out 5-wickets winners on the Duckworth/Lewis System in Sunday’s rain affected 2nd match of the five game series at ArnosV in St. Vincent, which was reduced to a 40 over affair.
Sunil Narine dominated the Australian batsmen bagging a career best 4 for 27 after the visitors were sent to take first strike. He was supported by Kemar Roach who picked up 2 for 23, while Dwayne Bravo and captain Darren Sammy claimed one wicket each, as the Aussies posted 154 for 9 with David Hussey the leading scorer with 37 .
Set an adjusted target of 158 from 40 overs, the Windies after the loss of Kieran Powell to Brett Lee's first ball of the innings and then sinking to 74 for 4, recovered to triumph at 163 for 5.
Kieron Pollard with an unbeaten knock of 47 and Dwayne Bravo 30 put on an important 64 runs for the 5th wicket to set up the win which the Windies secured with 10 balls to spare and level the series at 1-1.
The 3rd game in the series takes place on Tuesday also at the Arnos Vale Ground in St. Vincent.
