12,000 Caribbean women to benefit from agricultural project

Some 12,000 women in five Caribbean countries are set to benefit, from an agricultural project, that will increase their impact on the region’s agricultural markets.

This, follows today’s virtual launch, of the Sustainable Agriculture in the Caribbean, (SAC), project.

Speaking at the launch, Agriculture Minister Audley Shaw said, the SAC project will facilitate linkages between key market actors; strengthen their capacity through training, information-sharing and outreach; and foster climate resilient approaches.

Mr. Shaw noted, that Jamaica’s involvement in the project, is an indication of the government’s commitment to increase productivity and profitability in the agriculture sector, and mitigate the impacts of climate change.

Meantime, opposition spokesperson on agriculture, Lothan Cousins said, the SAC project comes at an appropriate time.
