13 persons quarantined, 1 isolated as country tries to keep out Coronavirus

by February 5th, 2020

Thirteen persons have been quarantined and one person is in isolation, as the country implements measures to keep the country safe from the Novel Coronavirus.

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says, Jamaica has one main quarantine facility and several isolation facilities operational at public hospitals.

This comes amid concerns that Jamaica lacks the facilities needed to isolate or quarantine persons, if the Coronavirus should enter the country.

Noting that quarantine facilities are provided by the government, Dr. Tufton explains the difference between isolation and quarantine.

Dr. Tufton was speaking at a press briefing in New Kingston today, (Feb 5).
