The Inter Secondary Schools Sports Association (ISSA) announced that government has given the greenlight for the staging of the 2021 schoolboy competitions.
Some 53 teams will be in action in the Dacosta Cup competition and 21 will be in the Manning Cup.
There will be a total of 320 matches to be contested through the season.
Meanwhile the Ben Francis and Walker cup knockout competitions, will be a part of the schoolboy football season based on the outcome of the first phase of the season which ends on December 18.
ISSA’s President Keith Wellington disclosed on Irie Fm’s Whats The Score show, that this will materialize following a review of phase one which will also see the Champions cup being added to the schedule.
Phase two of the schoolboy football season he outlined will be in 2022.
Jamaica College are the reigning Manning Cup Champions, while Clarendon College are the Dacosta Cup and Olivier Shield title holders.
Schoolboy football has not been played since 2019 owing to the Coronavirus pandemic.
