3 months maternity leave expected by end of September

Public sector workers should know by the end of September what exact changes have been made to the public service staff orders, especially as it relates to maternity, paternity, and family leave.

Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke said these updates form part of the public sector compensation restructuring.

The circular will be issued on September 30.

Speaking at a press briefing this afternoon (July 12), Dr. Clarke said, among the expected changes, is an extension of paid maternity leave time, to 3 months.

Dr. Clarke said paternity leave, and family leave for adoptive parents, will be introduced.
