Fifty-five thousand Jamaicans are slated to benefit from the government’s SET and BEST Cash grants.
The SET Cash grant is directed to individuals who have been unemployed, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, while the BEST Cash grant is for tourism workers.
While addressing parliament yesterday (June 8), Minster of Finance Dr. Nigel Clarke said the grants are to be issued throughout the months of June, July and August.
He said government has earmarked approximately 3 billion dollars for the programmes.
He reiterated that the period for new applicants will be closed on June 13.
He also disclosed that persons will not have to re-apply, as long as they are still eligible for the grants.
