6 additional Covid-19 deaths recorded, 215 new cases

The Health Ministry is reporting 6 additional Covid-19 related deaths.

The deaths occurred between September 8 and October 12.

The deceased are 4 males and 2 females.

They range in age from 65 to 90 years.

Five of the deceased lived in St. Elizabeth, while the other lived in St. Catherine.

The country’s Covid death toll is now 2059.

The ministry says one additional death is under investigation.

Meantime, 215 new cases have pushed the country’s case count to 86,722.

Of the new cases 126 are females and 89 are males.

They range in age from 33 days to 95 years.

All parishes except St. Mary recorded new cases.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 61 followed by St. Catherine with 55.

The positivity rate is 18.1 %.

393 persons are in hospital, among them, 48 who are severely ill, 21 who are critically ill and 94 who are moderately ill.

Meantime, 176 more persons have recovered, pushing that tally to 54,895.

There are 29,175 active cases.
