938 people murdered in Jamaica up to yesterday

Nine hundred and thirty-eight (938) people were killed in the country, up to yesterday (August 14).

According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force, this is 27 more, than the 911 murders recorded, in the corresponding period, last year.

The St. James police division recorded the highest number of murders with 129, followed by St. Catherine North with 92.

Portland recorded the lowest number of cases with 8.

Meantime, there were increases in cases of robbery and break-ins.

Robberies increased by 60, from 509, to 569, while break-ins went up by 26, from 585, to 611.

There was a decline in reported cases of rape, which went down by 59, from 310, to 251.

Overall, major crimes have increased by 8, from 3,093, to 3,101.
