The Accompong maroons have a new colonel.
40-year-old Richard Currie, polled 681 votes to emerge victorious over Ferron Williams who received 400 votes.
The other challengers Merdie Rowe, a former colonel got 98 votes, Sheldon Wallace 30 and Robert Cawley 28 votes.
Ten ballots were rejected.
Currie who is reported to be the youngest person to become colonel will be installed within ten days of the election.
Mr. Currie campaigned on a number of bold initiatives to bring change, including infrastructure development and economic independence to his people.
He told Irie Fm News that he will be working to preserve and enhance the maroon culture.
