A baby and an elderly woman died in house fires in separate incidents yesterday (September 5).
The incident involving the elderly woman occurred along Munroe road in St. Andrew, last evening.
Police have not yet released her identity.
Fire Chief for the Kingston and St. Andrew division, Superintendent Andrew Russell, says 19 fire-fighters battled the blaze, which gutted the seven apartment dwelling.
He says the woman who perished was bed-ridden.
Meanwhile, the one-year-old baby was burnt to death, in Free Town district, Manchester, yesterday.
She has been identified as Sky Montaque.
Police reports are that, the child’s mother who was at home, left the toddler and a two year old child inside, and went outside to wash.
Smoke was seen coming from the house, and an explosion heard.
The two year old child managed to escape, however the infant was trapped inside the house, and was burnt to death.
