CAD reporting a good start to the resolution of outstanding traffic tickets

The Court Administration Division is reporting a good start to the resolution of outstanding traffic tickets.

Motorists have been warned to address their outstanding traffic tickets before the new Road Traffic Act comes into effect on February 1.

Following calls for assistance by transport operators, cabinet decided last month, that motorists who paid their outstanding traffic tickets by January 31, would have demerit points expunged when the act is implemented.

This applies to tickets issued after February 1, 2018.

Reports from the Court Administration Division are that some 1,928 cases were heard, for the period December 5 to 17.

The administration expects the numbers to increase.

Meantime, the division says there has been an uptick in customer service calls about resolving outstanding traffic ticket matters.

The agency is reminding the public that traffic ticket matters should be resolved in the parish the ticket was issued.
