The resort town of Ocho Rios is expected to be abuzz with tourism related activities, as it welcomes the Carnival Sunrise on Monday, with some 1,700 cruise passengers.
This will be the third cruise ship arrival since the reopening of cruise tourism in August.
Senior advisor and strategist in the ministry of tourism, Delano Seiveright says Tourism workers need this economic lifeline.
Meanwhile, he notes that passengers have been fully vaccinated except for a few children.
Tourism Minister Ed Bartlet explains that the schedule for the cruise season had been agreed on with carnival cruise line prior to the imposition of the no-movement days .
He adds that the cabinet made a decision to facilitate the cruise arrival on a no-movement day to honour the agreement with carnival cruise line.
The minister states that the authorities are confident that the robust protocols and controls are sufficient to keep the population and the arriving passengers safe.
