The long awaited and highly anticipated 2021 staging of the ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships unfolds Tuesday May 11th inside the National Stadium.
The exciting five day spectacle returns after its cancellation last year caused by the Coronavirus outbreak.
A total of 68 male teams and and 61 female teams are down to do battle – the male teams will see an overall total of 506 athletes while the female teams will have 464 for a total of 970 competitors from 80 schools doing battle up to Saturday afternoon, way below the usual over 2 thousand participants.
On the eve of the truncated champs with all systems in place, Jamaica College and Edwin Allen is showing as the anti-post favorites’.
Irie Fm’s track and field analyst Raymond KC graham has Jamaica College to win with 370 points and Kingston College second with 330 points – However he is predicting that KC will be ahead at the end of the opening day.
Graham says Edwin Allen will win the girls title with 384 points followed by St Jago at 338 points, but it will be St Jago in front after day one.
No spectators will be allowed inside the National Stadium.
