The Health and Wellness Ministry says, the country will not abandon the mandatory quarantine requirement for international travellers at this time.
This following reports that the Pan American Health Organisation, PAHO, declared that quarantining was not necessary.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jacquiline Bisasor-Mckenzie, says with the number of Covid-19 cases spiking in countries that interact most with Jamaica, the government cannot afford to reduce its restrictions at this time.
Dr. Bisasor-Mckenzie warns that Jamaica will eventually abandon the mandatory quarantine requirements.
However, she stresses that this will not be done without assessing the risks.
