President of the Caribbean Maritime University (CMU), Professor Fritz Pinnock is to resume duties late next week.
Speaking at a press conference in Kingston on Wednesday (September 4), Minister with responsibility for Education and Information, Karl Samuda, said Mr. Pinnock who went on voluntary leave in July, amidst a probe into the operations of the university, was to return to work last month but requested an extension.
He says this was done in an effort not to impede the process of the investigation.
Meantime, Mr. Samuda has lauded the CMU for its efficiency.
He says some 500 students enrolled at the institution this academic year and applications are still rolling in.
Mr. Samuda also expressed confidence in the university board’s capabilities to manage the affairs of the institution.
