Concacaf yesterday confirmed its second annual women’s football day which will be celebrated in May this year.
Building on the success of the inaugural women’s day held in 2015, in which 38 of the 41 member associations within the Confederation United to create a significant opportunity for girls and women to play the game, this year’s one-day event will provide an even stronger platform to raise awareness for women’s growing participation in soccer.
Scheduled to kick-off at 11:00am on Saturday May 21, several activities on the day will be organized within Concacaf’s member nations with support provided by the Confederation.
Three specific programs are recommended to the member associations, but they will have the opportunity to administer an activity of their choosing.
Those programmes are girl’s grassroots festival, 3 on 3 or 5 on 5 tournaments, and a football skills challenge.
