Conductor killed in Spanish Town

A bus conductor was shot dead in Spanish Town, St. Catherine, this morning (August 13).

He has been identified as 19 year old Dimmoy Reid, also known as “Tajay” of Berry Close, Spanish Town and Waterford, Portmore, St. Catherine.

Reports from the police are that about 8:00 am they responded to gunfire at the Spanish Town Centre when they saw Reid lying along the intersection of Burke Road and Kings Street with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Meantime, President of the Transport Operators Development Sustainable Services, Egeton Newman in noting that the incident has brought grave sadness to the sector, says more must be done to ensure the security of operators and conductors.
