Court frees two people accused of being members of Uchence Wilson gang

by July 1st, 2019

A woman and a man who were accused of being members of the Uchence Wilson gang were freed today (July 1) in the Home Circuit Court, after prosecutors said they did not have any evidence against them.

They are Shadae Beckford and Junior Rose.

The 2 had been on trial this year with alleged leader of the gang 27-year-old Uchence Wilson and his co-accused comprising 18 men and three women.

The Crown closed its case last month, and defense lawyers are now making a no case submission on behalf of the accused.

The alleged gang members were arrested in December 2017 and charged with breaches of the anti-gang legislation.

The prosecution is alleging that the criminal enterprise, involving the alleged gang members, netted some $400 million in its operations, which spread across seven parishes.
