Covid-19 death toll nears 400

The death toll from Covid 19 now stands at 399, following the death of three persons yesterday (February 21).

The deceased are an 89-year-old female from Kingston and St. Andrew, a 73-year-old female from St. James, and a 66-year-old female from Westmoreland.

Meanwhile, the country recorded 297 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the case count to 21,679.

Of the new cases, 125 are males and 172 are females, with ages ranging from 1 to 101 years.

Kingston and St. Andrew recorded the highest number of cases with 115, St. James followed with 62 cases, St. Catherine 58, Hanover 12, Trelawny 11, St. Ann 10, Westmoreland 8, St. Elizabeth and St. Thomas 5 each, Clarendon 4, Portland and St. Mary 3 each, and Manchester 1.

The number of Covid hospitalization continues to rise, with 267 persons hospitalized. 43 of whom are moderately ill and 18 are critically ill.

There are 8,083 active cases. 57 more persons have recovered from Covid-19, pushing total recoveries, to 12,988.
