Cruise ship tourism is expected to see a major resurgence, in a few months, with at least 3 major cruiselines, home porting in the island.
This was revealed by Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett while making his Sectoral Debate presentation, in Parliament yesterday (April 20).
As of August, ships from the Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, and Viking cruise lines will call at Jamaica’s ports.
Norwegian will home port in Montego Bay.
Royal Caribbean will port in Ocho Rios.
While Viking will call at all ports along the north coast.
Mr. Bartlett said in light of the expected increase in cruise arrivals, the government is looking into improvement projects at other ports, such as in Lucea, Savana-la-mar, and Port Antonio.
